My Favorite Nashville Neighborhoods
These Nashville neighborhoods are not new communities...but have their very own charm and unique qualities. Take a few moments...step back in time and enjoy visiting these quaint neighborhoods.
The Villages of Old Hickory - Originally built in 1918... by the DuPont Company to house their employees. Ten distinct home styles were constructed...ranging from very simple one-story homes to ornate Colonial Revival homes for the managers. You will find influences of the Bungalow and Dutch Colonial architecture.
This village is the only remaining example of a planned company town in Middle Tennessee. There have been no major intrusions into the area and the streetscapes are much as they were back in 1918.
I used to live in a company town, so naturally I love this community. I heard of one couple purchasing one of these homes for $37,000...not realizing that the community would soon be listed on the National Historical Register.
Now many of the homes have been renovated and can range in price well up into the $200,000's. I would say that they made a good bargain! But, you can still purchase one of these homes at a reasonable price to renovate.
Enjoy your visit to the Villages of Old Hickory.
Sylvan Park - Homes originally built in the early to mid 1900's. The proximity to West End and Vanderbilt made this neighborhood a natural for renovation.
Located just off West End Avenue at I-440 - it's just minutes away from downtown Nashville. It's the "IN" place to be! Very trendy and upscale.
McCabe Park/Golf Course is right there in the neighborhood. Lots of little shops and cafes.
The homes range in price from $160,000 - $675,000...with the average sales price being $311,048 for the past year.
